RAW Developer is a powerful RAW image conversion application designed and optimized specifically for Mac OS X. RAW Developer gives advanced photographers total control over every aspect of their digital camera's output, yet still provides easy drag and drop batch conversion and access to basic adjustments for the casual user.

RAW developer is able to support files from over 100 digital camera models. The entire image processing pipeline is completely unique to RAW Developer.

This includes the demosaicing algorithms used for all cameras based on RGB color filters (which is nearly all of them), all color management operations, all other processing adjustments, sharpening, noise reduction and final file format conversion.

Version 1.8.3 is impressive.. In side by side tests with Capture One 4.7, Lightroom 2.3 and Photoshop 10 Raw developer can compete effectively with the big guys. I used a Mac G5 with two 2.7gig processors running 10.5.6.User Interface is less sophisticated than Lightroom but has the advantage of splitting up all tool and work palettes into separate windows... works great if you have two monitors.... allowing you to go full screen with the image you are working on.Color controls are sometimes a little slow to respond but do show results clearly.... The screen image seems much more clear to me than on Lightroom.I think you have more control over colors than with Lightroom. When you get to sharpening Raw Developer leaves Adobe products in the dust. I ran some test on images shot with studio strobe at f11 to 20 with a Canon macro 100mm on a Canon 5D set at ISO160. Capture One and Raw developer are very close in image quality when it comes to sharpening and detail revelation. I don't have a scientific way to compare but it seems like Raw Developer has the edge with multiple versions of sharpening available with a click of a button. All other processors use only one method. My personal choice was the Richardson-Lucy Image deconvolution method which is mathematically designed to defeat the antialias filter in front of your DSLR sensor. After running this filter my 5D images look like 4x5 transparency film. That's as good as I can hope to expect from this camera I think.

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.
